Red Moon

     Hello everyone! Steve here with some exciting news. The book is done! All 200 pages are now complete and we are in the process of printing the graphic novel. Before we print the final book, we wanted to get some quotes for the front and back of the book. So, we printed up some review copies…

Not a very exciting cover, I know. We’ll be debuting the final cover soon. But for the review copies, it works. I sent copies to websites that review comics and to people in the industry that I’ve met over the past couple of years. So there are people reading Red Moon right now! Dave and I are now anxiously waiting to hear the first reactions come in. When we hear back from people, we’ll let you all know.

     Happy Holidays everyone! Steve here with a Christmas gift for everyone as well as an update and some insight into the production of Red Moon.

     Since it’s Christmas time, I thought I would give you all a present. Here’s a scene from page 155 of the graphic novel…

     Yes, page 155! It’s gonna be a monster of a book (200 pages total). Dave is just about finished and will start working on the cover soon! That means we’ll printing the book soon and trying to get it into your hands. How is that going to happen?

     The plan is to focus on getting the graphic novel into comic book stores first. In order to do that, we’ll have to go through Diamond Distribution. They are the main distribution company when it comes to dealing with comic book stores. If we can get Diamond to distribute the book, then it’s just a matter of you walking into your favorite comic book store and asking for Red Moon. Your store will be able to order it. We honestly don’t know how hard it is to get approved by Diamond but we think we have a pretty good shot.

     We will also be selling the book at our online store as well as at convention appearances. Eventually we will attempt to get Red Moon into Book stores as well. Future blogs will touch upon that topic. For right now, we’re concetrating on comic book stores only.

     So the book is coming soon! Lots of excitement for 2010 everyone! Expect the blogs to pick up in the coming new year as we show you the printing process, how we’re going about getting quotes for the back of the book and finally it’s eventual release!

     Hi all. Dave here with the winner of the “Get your pet in Red Moon” contest! And the winner is…Huasnia and her Chihuahua, Romeo!

     Romeo is a very heroic dog and will be a perfect addition to Red Moon’s story. Thank you, Huasnia, for entering Romeo in the contest. I can’t wait to draw him.

     And thank you to all of you who entered your pets, they were all great and it was extremely hard to choose just one.

     In some updating news, I’m sure you’re all kind of wondering where the book is since 2009 is almost over. Well, I don’t have to tell anybody that times are hard. I’ve had to do a few side jobs to get by so, after a lot of inner searching, I had to decide whether it was a good thing or not financially to try and release a relatively unknown book by an unknown author at this time.

     What I ended up deciding was to take more time to fine tune the book and try to do some more marketing strategy before it’s release. This way I can hopefully get some big names in the comic industry to perhaps give me some quotes for the back of the book and (fingers crossed) by the time it’s ready to be released the economy will be somewhat more accepting.

     I truly appreciate all the support and kind words that everyone has given us and I hope you understand and can hang with us just a bit longer. Again, “good things are worth waiting for,” right?

     And stay tuned, we do still have some surprises in future blogs.

     Hi everyone. Steve here with our Long Beach Comic-Con Report!

     Last weekend Dave and I attended the first ever Long Beach Comic Con! It was a really great show. Check out the convention floor…

     We also met Nathan who was attending his first ever comic convention. The Red Moon Prequel Comic was his first ever comic convenion purchase! Thanks Nathan! Hope you enjoyed the show!

     We sold tons of prequel books at the convention. Dave also did plenty of commission pieces as well. Here’s some of them. Dave has started doing white on black pieces at the show now and they’re turning out really great.

     Hey everyone, Steve here again. The recession has affected everyone and everything, including the production of Red Moon. We still expect it to be done this year so don’t worry. But right NOW we have a great new contest for you to enter!

     Hello everyone! Steve here with our Comic-Con 2009 wrap up. As you probably know, this past weekend was Comic-Con and we had an amazing experience exhibiting there for our first time. Comic-Con is HUGE! Here’s just one section of the convention floor. Try and find our table hidden in the madness.

     Here’s our table set up for the show. Dave on the right in the Red Moon shirt, myself on the left.

     There were SO MANY PEOPLE at Comic-Con. Reports say that 125,000 people attended. WOW! Thank you to EVERYONE who stopped by our table and said hello! Out of all those people, Doris was the first person to purchase our prequel comic. For doing so, she was awarded with a Red Moon soda!

     We met so many great people at the show, like this character who paid Dave to do a commission of him.

     The really amazing thing was, it never spoke to us. It just barked, howled, pointed and nodded. Even though no real words were spoken, Dave knew exactly what it wanted and drew this picture!

     Another person stopped by and asked for a drawing of the character, Wasp. Here’s the drawing Dave did.

     And when she came back to pic up the drawing, she was dressed as Wasp! How cool!

     Jerry and Kelly picked up a couple of copies of the prequel. In talking with them, we found out they train dolphins at Sea World! So we showed them pages from the upcoming graphic novel that feature dolphins.

     At another point, this scary guy stopped by!

     This is just a small sample of all the great people who swung by our table. We had a really successful show and we topped our sales from Heroescon in Charlotte! Thanks again to everyone who stopped by. Hope you all like the prequel comic!

     Hey everyone! Steve here this time with some info on where you can find Red Moon at Comic-Con. Plus, we’re announcing another contest as well!

     First up, congratulations to Andy Childress on winning the Star Wars themed Red Moon sketch that Dave did! We’ve got something else to give away, but you have to read to the end of the blog to find out what it is.

     So we’ll be at Comic-Con in a little over a week! Dave and I are really excited. It’s the biggest comic book convention…anywhere! There’s 125,000 people expected to attend this year. Should be fun! If you’re going, here’s how to find us.

     First off, if you’re looking for us in the progam guide or on the website, we’re listed under “Cossack Comics” (my comic book company). We’ll have the same Red Moon table layout and everything.      Dave here with a final human character blog. Although it’s short, this one should open up the story even wider.

 It’s the General.

     Yes, the military is involved at some point in the story of Red Moon! But don’t worry, they arent the bad guys like in so many animal related stories. They might be a little slow and a bit rough around the edges, but their hearts are in the right place.

     The General is in charge of the military operation that intercepts Mox’s Mission and is the keystone in the relationship between the animals and the humans.

     The General is pretty typical military fare: tough and no nonsense, almost to the point of stubborn, but he’s got a level head that isn’t easily clouded by his emotions, be it anger or joy. He’s quick on his toes, physically and mentally. His judgement is, more often than not, the right thing or, at the least, the best thing to be done.

     And given the judgements he must make in Red Moon, that’s good for all of Mankind.
