Contest Winner and an Update!

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Hi all. Dave here with the winner of the “Get your pet in Red Moon” contest! And the winner is…Huasnia and her Chihuahua, Romeo!

Romeo is a very heroic dog and will be a perfect addition to Red Moon’s story. Thank you, Huasnia, for entering Romeo in the contest. I can’t wait to draw him.

And thank you to all of you who entered your pets, they were all great and it was extremely hard to choose just one.

In some updating news, I’m sure you’re all kind of wondering where the book is since 2009 is almost over. Well, I don’t have to tell anybody that times are hard. I’ve had to do a few side jobs to get by so, after a lot of inner searching, I had to decide whether it was a good thing or not financially to try and release a relatively unknown book by an unknown author at this time.

What I ended up deciding was to take more time to fine tune the book and try to do some more marketing strategy before it’s release. This way I can hopefully get some big names in the comic industry to perhaps give me some quotes for the back of the book and (fingers crossed) by the time it’s ready to be released the economy will be somewhat more accepting.

I truly appreciate all the support and kind words that everyone has given us and I hope you understand and can hang with us just a bit longer. Again, “good things are worth waiting for,” right?

And stay tuned, we do still have some surprises in future blogs.

Thanks,

Dave

New Contest!

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

Hey everyone, Steve here again. The recession has affected everyone and everything, including the production of Red Moon. We still expect it to be done this year so don’t worry. But right NOW we have a great new contest for you to enter!

During the course of Red Moon, many animals show up to help AND hinder Mox and Daeden in their travels. MANY animals.

And now your pet can be one of those animals! We’re offering the chance to have your pet be represented in Red Moon! Send us a pic along with a brief description as to why your pet should be in the book to redmoon.novel@yahoo.com Dave will pick a winner sometime in October and will draw your pet into Red Moon!

And don’t worry. Your pet will not turn into the evil villain, the bad guy, etc. Dave will represent your pet in a positive way.

Good Luck everyone!

Comic-Con and Our Next Contest.

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Hey everyone! Steve here this time with some info on where you can find Red Moon at Comic-Con. Plus, we’re announcing another contest as well!

First up, congratulations to Andy Childress on winning the Star Wars themed Red Moon sketch that Dave did! We’ve got something else to give away, but you have to read to the end of the blog to find out what it is.

So we’ll be at Comic-Con in a little over a week! Dave and I are really excited. It’s the biggest comic book convention…anywhere! There’s 125,000 people expected to attend this year. Should be fun! If you’re going, here’s how to find us.

First off, if you’re looking for us in the progam guide or on the website, we’re listed under “Cossack Comics” (my comic book company). We’ll have the same Red Moon table layout and everything. We’re just listed differently. Here’s the layout of HALF of the Comic-Con floor with the Small Press Pavilion circled.

And here’s the Small Press Pavilion. We’ll be at table K-05.

If you’re going, stop on by! We’d love to meet ya’! However, if you can’t go and still want to get a prequel comic, we’ll be selling them online shortly after Comic-Con. But… we’re giving away another signed prequel comic as our next contest prize! Here’s how you can win it. First of all, check out the trailer for the prequel comic, Red Moon: The Rising.

All you have to do is tell people about the trailer by linking to it somehow. Bulletin about it. Post the trailer in a blog. Post a link to it on twitter. Get creative! Just let us know that you got the message out on the prequel comic and that’s it! You’re in the running for a signed copy! You can email us at redmoon.novel@yahoo.com to let us know where your link is or if you’re a friend of ours on twitter.com/redmoongn we’ll see the tweet.

Big news and our next contest!

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Hello again everyone. Steve here this time with some BIG news and our next contest details as well. Let’s get right to the announcemnet…

Red Moon will be on tour this Summer! To get people interested in Red Moon (and to reach a wider audience) artist/author of Red Moon, David McAdoo, and myself will be going to 2 comic book conventions this Summer. We’ll have a table at the shows where you’ll be able to purchase something (more on that in a second). You’ll also be able to see David working on actual pages from the graphic novel right at the table! So if you’re going to one of the shows, please stop by and say hello. We’d love to meet all the great people that we’ve gotten to know online this past year.

So, what shows will we be at?

First up, we’ll be at HeroesCon in Charlotte, NC on June, 19-22. Click the link to learn all about the show. They have an AMAZING guest list.

And next up…

We’ll be at Comic Con in San Diego, CA! The biggest comic convention…anywhere! The show runs July 22nd-26th. We’ll be there everyday with a table in the Small Press area.

And don’t worry, we’ll remind everyone again as to where EXACTLY our table will be located for each show when the dates near.

The full blown, 200 page graphic novel won’t be ready for the shows, so what are we selling?

Red Moon: The Rising is a collection of the three stories that lead up the the begining of the graphic novel, Red Moon. Each story focuses on one of the main characters of the graphic novel and the part they play in the bigger picture. Some of you may have read the first 2 prequel stories online. This 28 page comic completes the entire prequel. We’ll be selling the comic EXCLUSIVELY at the 2 shows first but don’t worry, if you can’t make it out to one of the shows, we’ll be making the comic available for purchase online right after Comic Con. :)

But you know what? We’re giving away the very first copy for free! Dave will sign and draw on it. You’ll get the VERY FIRST prequel comic that Dave will sign. Here’s how you can win…

First of all, check out the trailer for the prequel, Red Moon: The Rising.

All you have to do is tell people about the trailer by linking to it somehow. Bulletin about it. Post the trailer in a blog. Post a link to it on twitter. Get creative! Just let us know that you got the message out on the prequel comic and that’s it! You’re in the running for the first signed copy! You can email us at redmoon.novel@yahoo.com to let us know where your link is or if you’re a friend of ours on twitter.com/redmoongn we’ll see the tweet.

Our Next Contest!

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Hey everyone, Steve here ready to announce our next contest!

To build up interest in Red Moon, we’ve put out 3 flyers so far. We’ve mailed off plenty to comic book stores all over the place. Plus, we’ve had them on freebie tables at numerous comic conventions. Here’s some pics of the flyer at a couple of awesome comic books stores.

Alternate Reality Comics in Las Vegas, NV!

Bad Apple Comics in Orlando, FL!

We’re designing the latest flyer…and we need your help!

We’d like to know what it is that you like about anything Red Moon related because we’re gonna put fan quotes on the next flyer! If we use your quote, not only will your name and quote be on thousands of flyers, but Dave will sign one of the flyers, draw a little something on it for you and mail it off to you for free!

Your quotes can be a few simple words, or something longer. But please nothing larger then 3 sentences. At the end of Feb. we’ll pick 3 winners and their quotes will go on our new flyer!

Please leave your quotes in the blog comments or you can email them to redmoon.novel@yahoo.com

Help find Scruffy!

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Hey everyone, Steve here with your next contest. But first, let’s find out who won the spot to be in our next webcomic prequel. The winner is (drum roll)…Sean Caylor!

Congratulations to Sean! He’ll be immortalized forever…just like the Highlander! Keep an eye out for Sean in our next  prequel webcomic.

Ok, so the next contest is a little different then the other contests. The prize is different, but I think you’ll all like it anyway. How does $200 sound? That’s right, the next contest is for TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS! How do you win that cold, hard cash?

     You help find Scruffy!

Early on in Red Moon, Mox (who is given the name of “Scruffy” by his human family) runs away. Soon after, Mox’s family puts up some lost dog flyers in order to help find “Scruffy”. The flyer you see above will be making an appearance in Red Moon. So if you want, you can print out a flyer and actually have a prop from the graphic novel! But there IS that $200 you want to win, so you’re going to have to print out more, because…

For every picture you send us of the lost dog flyer hanging in a comic book shop, independent book store or anywhere you think comic book fans might be, you’ll be entered into the contest. We’d love some pictures of the flyer hanging in front of some famous locations. BE CREATIVE. And yes, I said “for every picture you send us”. So really, the number of times you want to enter this contest is up to you! The more places you hang the flyer up, the better the shot you have at winning that cash. So send us as many pics as you want. (1 picture per location) We’ll have a special blog here on there official site where we’ll feature all of the pictures that are sent in to us. After 2 months, we’ll put all of the names into a hat (one name for each time you send us a pic) and randomly pic the winner of the $200! So print out the flyer, help us get the word out on Red Moon and maybe win some money in the process!

To print the flyer, just right click on the flyer above and save it to your computer. Then, open up the pic, print it out and hang it up! Like at your local comic book shop, like this…(p.s.-don’t forget to ask them first!)

Tate's Comics in Lauderhill, FL

War and Pieces in Davie, FL

Then once you have your photos, send them to redmoon.novel@yahoo.com

Oh and btw-Don’t forget to check out www.ScruffyIsLost.com Something is a little weird in one of the pics on the site. ;) And while you’re there, email Scruffy’s family. Who knows? They might email you back!

Good luck in the contest!

Be in our next prequel webcomic!

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Hey everyone! It’s Steve here writing the blog this time. I have the winner of our second contest and the announcement of our next contest to share with you, so let’s get right to it!

First up, the winner of the 4 books all written and illustrated by Red Moon’s artist/author, David McAdoo, is…Sharon French! We had alot of people enter this contest, so thank you to everyone for participating. And congratulations to Sharon! She’ll be recieving Red Moon, Dragon of Ord and issues 1 and 2 of Last Soldier of 10-Sky!

So onto our next contest…what did everyone think of the first prequel webcomic that we posted recently? David and I were pretty excited to see it featured on Aint It Cool News. If you haven’t seen it yet, CLICK HERE to see that story featuring the entire 8 page webcomic.

Here’s where the second contest comes into play. There will be 2 more prequel webcomics coming out before Red Moon hits the shelves and you can be a part of the next one! How would you like to BE IN THE NEXT PREQUEL WEBCOMIC? David has a panel in the next comic that needs a human and he wants you to be that human! David is pretty good at recreating people’s likeness in his art. Check out these drawings he did for our last project, Movie Battle Royale featuring a bunch of different film characters…

Movie Battle Royale was a project I created a few years back. It was basically an online competiton that pitted movies against one another. David did ALL of the artwork. Head on over and check out the photos section to see all the amazing artwork David did for the site. Those 2 drawings above are just a small sample.

Ok, back to the contest…If you would like to be immortalized forever in a panel of the next prequel webcomic, just send us an email with the subject heading, “3rd contest” to:

redmoon.novel@yahoo.com

We’ll pick the winner at random on Aug. 1st. And as always, we won’t give out your email address or put you on any mailing list. And just so you know, once we pick the winner of this new contest we’ll need you to be able to email us some photos of yourself.

Good luck!

steve

The first contest winner and the second contest announcement!

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Hey everyone, Steve here with the winner of the first contest and the announcement of our second contest!

We had a great response for the first contest. Hundreds of people entered to win the first ever printed copy of Red Moon. We threw all of the names into a hat and the winner of that book (to be personalized by artist/author David McAdoo) is…Kim Maher! Congratulations to Kim! She will get the first copy of Red Moon off of the printing press…ever!

So how do we top our first contest? How can we beat giving away our book for free? How about FOUR books? Our next contest is for a bundle of books all done by Red Moon’s artist/author, David McAdoo! If you win this next contest, you’ll not only get a free signed copy of Red Moon when it is released, but
you’ll also get a copy of…

The Dragon of Ord

The Dragon of Ord is a hard bound, short childrens book with two-tone pencil drawing illustrations that David wrote and drew when he was just 10 years old! At the age of 15, the book was published and David toured around the country speaking to kids in schools and libraries about his passion for art and writing. The book has everything! Dragons, spaceships, wizards, kings, barbarians, lasers and stolen treasure!

You’ll also get these two comic books…

The Last Soldier of 1--Sky (Issue 1)

The Last Soldier of 10-Sky (Issue 2)

The Last Soldier of 10-Sky is a 12 page, black and white mini comic that David recently wrote and illustrated. It’s the story of a soldier on a mission through the city of 10-Sky. On his journey he encounters unknown foes barring him from finishing his mission as well as allies that will help him discover the real truth behind his orders. Issues 1 and 2 are action packed featuring robots, giant creatures, a ravaged landscape and a unique armadillo-like lead character.

So how do you win all four books? Simple, if you want to win a free signed copy of Red Moon, along with David’s early work, The Dragon of Ord and the hard to find issues 1 and 2 of The Last Soldier of 10-Sky, all you have to do is send us an email at redmoon.novel@yahoo.com with the subject heading, SECOND CONTEST. That’s it! In one month (June 22nd) we’ll randomly pick a winner. And as always, you won’t be placed onto any mailing list and we won’t give your email out to anyone.

Good luck!

steve
